NSE hours are not one continuous opportunity. They are three different practice environments wearing one clock.
9:15–15:30 as practice blocks. Structure reps by window, not by guilt about the whole day.
Official cash session map (practice framing)
| Block | Time (IST) | Practice character |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-open | 9:00–9:15 | Mechanism education—careful separation from intraday signals |
| Open | 9:15–10:00 | Volatility, gap behaviour, FOMO risk |
| Midday | ~11:30–13:30 | Boredom, chop, manufactured setups |
| Afternoon | 13:30–14:30 | Trend continuation or fade—your plan defines |
| Close | 14:30–15:30 | Square-off pressure for intraday products |
Practise one block per session until caps hold consistently—do not "full session" by default.
Weekly block rotation
| Day | Block focus | Special rule |
|---|---|---|
| Mon | Open | Max 2 entries |
| Tue | Midday | Skip quota 5 |
| Wed | Open | Two-loss stop emphasis |
| Thu | Close | Square-off rules explicit |
| Fri | Random block | Weakest block from review |
Session template
| Step | Action | Done when |
|---|---|---|
| Prep | Pick block + write rules | One page |
| Run | Hidden-date replay | Cap hit |
| Log | Five fields minimum | Complete |
| Stop | No "one more" | Timer |
| Review | Contradictions only | ≤15 min |
Failure modes
- Full-day overtrading
- Ignoring square-off in practice
- Pre-open confusion — indication mistaken for practice edge
- Only open practice — midday live tilt
- Holiday drift — no backlog plan
Liquidity and events
Open and close need liquid names for honest fills. Known event days distort block learning—prefer random dates.
Replay Trader fit
Replay Trader: randomised historical NSE practice aligned to real session timing, candle-by-candle reveal, ₹999 / 30 days, ~300 decisions repetition—not tips, not guaranteed profits.
Practise the clock you will trade. Educational content only—not investment advice.
Block weakness identification
After two weeks, which block has lowest avg process score? That block gets extra sessions week three.
Pre-open study slot
Optional Monday 8:45 AM: read official mechanism note fifteen minutes—never overlap with intraday signal hunt.
Clock fidelity
Practise timestamps should mirror IST session labels even in replay for habit transfer.
Half-day sessions (Muhurat etc.)
Special sessions exist—tag separately when encountered; do not blend with ordinary block stats.
Travel and timezone
If travelling, still label simulated IST blocks—not US open by accident.
Block timer labels
Phone timers named OPEN, MID, CLOSE—start correct one.
Half-session fatigue
Afternoon-only practice when morning job busy—still valid.
Block-specific caps table
| Block | Max entries |
|---|---|
| Open | 2 |
| Mid | 1 |
| Close | 2 |
Customize per plan.
IST sync
Verify replay timestamps IST—habit accuracy.
Timing review monthly
Which block weakest—schedule extra.
Extended Friday random-block review
Each Friday, pick weakest block from week and schedule two sessions next week targeting that block only. Rotation prevents only practising exciting open while live midday destroys you.
Synchrony with Indian work life
If full-time job, open block practice may happen only on leave days—batch those on holidays using market-holiday backlog plan rather than pretending daily open access exists.
Timing practice closing
9:15–15:30 is three environments, not one. Block-rotate intentionally. Pre-open is mechanism study, not tip hunting. Square-off aware intraday practice respects Indian product reality. Hidden-date reps per block beat full-day undisciplined clicking.
Extended annual timing practice map
Q1 focus open blocks. Q2 add midday boredom. Q3 close square-off. Q4 mix random block weakest from logs.
Indian traders with jobs may compress map—adjust but do not skip midday forever.
Timing map taped near desk beats generic "trade when you can" vagueness.
Block mastery certificate (self-issued, private)
Issue only when: twenty sessions in block, cap adherence ≥85%, peek invalidations ≤1. Blocks: open, midday, close. Three certificates possible; zero certificates means honest continue—not shame.
Commute-aware scheduling
If you cannot trade open live, open-block replay on holidays or evenings still builds open-specific rules for when leave days arrive. Timing practice adapts to life without dropping blocks entirely.
Timing mastery is block mastery; full-day undisciplined clicking is not timing practice.
Weak block amplification
Whichever block scored lowest process average last week receives double session allocation next week. Amplification prevents permanent avoidance of hard windows like midday boredom on NSE cash hours.
Block rotation calendar (sample month)
Week1 open-heavy; week2 midday-heavy; week3 close-heavy; week4 weakest block from review doubled. Rotation prevents single-window mastery illusion before live full session exposure.
When travelling, still label simulated blocks as IST in journal even if local clock differs—portable habit prevents timezone drift in review tags.
Blocks rotate; skill follows.
IST block labels in journal header
Every session header lines: DATE | BLOCK | IST START | RULES VERSION. Headers make weekly block review sortable without rereading entire narratives. Sortable logs beat literary journals for skill work.
